Dance
“Sweat your prayers” - Gabrielle Roth
This program blends somatics, embodied movement, and sound to guide participants in creating transformative, full-bodied experiences. You’ll learn foundational DJ and soundscaping skills, designing music journeys with intentional rise, plateau, and integration. Music becomes a language for guiding the body, shaping the emotional and energetic flow of a group, and supporting experiences of vulnerability, catharsis, and reintegration. Participants will also engage with sound therapy sessions and kīrtans, curating soundscapes that are emotionally and somatically attuned.
Through somatic principles and embodied facilitation, you’ll explore how the body mobilizes, processes, and releases stored sensation and memory. Using body-based tools, rhythmic cues, breath, gravity, and sensation, you will guide instinctual, expressive, and intuitive movement. This includes cultivating primal, untamed, and animalistic embodiment, helping participants access ecstatic states safely and intentionally. You will also learn to hold space with grounded presence, integrity, and trust, becoming a vessel for transmission, support, and deep communal connection.
The training integrates elemental embodiment—Water, Earth, Fire, Air, and Space—as archetypal maps for movement journeys, offering a framework to guide dancers through fluidity, groundedness, expansion, and spacious presence. Participants will learn to sculpt energetic journeys with intention, supporting ecstatic peaks, integration, and safe return. Emphasis is placed on tuning into the energy of the room and facilitating from embodied presence, rather than control or performance, cultivating a deep sense of flow and mutual resonance.
Additionally, this program emphasizes embodied facilitation skills and creative leadership. You will develop your unique voice and style as a facilitator, learning the subtle art of when to guide and when to step back, honoring the intelligence of the body and the collective energy of the group. By the end of the training, you’ll be equipped with practical tools, somatic insight, and sound-based skills to hold transformative, ecstatic, and liberating movement experiences for yourself and others.
What to expect, and what you'll walk away with
-
Basic DJ techniques for mixing tracks, with software support and recorded guidance, so you can begin straight away (this part is mostly pre-recorded). You'll learn to create seamless transitions and build sets intuitively, to design music journeys with an intentional rise, plateau, and integration, and to curate soundscapes that are emotionally and somatically attuned rather than simply trendy or "cool." Above all, you'll learn to use music as an emotional and energetic language that guides a full-bodied experience.
-
Understanding somatics and somatization: how the body mobilises, processes, and releases stored sensation and memory. You'll use somatic principles to access deeper presence and awareness, and learn to move beyond the DJ booth, holding space through somatic sensing rather than control. Tuning in to the energy of the room, you'll guide from embodied presence rather than performance, becoming a vessel for transmission and trust.
-
Body mapping to identify the physical and energetic entry points for movement. You'll lead rhythmic cues that awaken instinctual movement and expressive flow, guide from breath, gravity, and sensation, and offer verbal prompts that open the body's own intelligence.
-
The basic principles of music therapy, and how sound impacts mood, memory, and the nervous system. You'll choose music that supports emotional processing, trauma sensitivity, and group coherence, while also challenging and growing our capacity. You'll craft soundscapes that hold people through vulnerability, catharsis, and return, and together we'll enjoy sound therapy sessions and kīrtans.
-
Guiding dancers into ecstatic peaks with safety and intention, never overwhelm. You'll work with the elements, water, earth, fire, air, and space, as archetypal maps for movement journeys, explore an animalistic embodiment that invites primal, untamed, intuitive movement, and cultivate ecstatic states through breath, rhythm, repetition, and rooted freedom.
-
Holding a safe, grounded, and clear energetic container. You'll build transmission trust and lead with presence rather than performance, develop your own voice and style as a facilitator, and learn the subtle art of when to guide, and when to get out of the way.
Open to all.
